A standard eye test lasts for approximately 20 minutes unless the optician feels the need to carry out further tests. The optician uses a range of tests tailored to your individual needs, such as a visual fields test which is a subjective measure of central and peripheral vision and how sensitive the vision is in different parts of the visual field. This helps doctors to find certain types of injuries and disease, like glaucoma.
